Research Interest
David’s research focuses on how systematic theology possesses the necessary analytical tools to prevent faith in the Creator from collapsing into faith in created things. He is currently investigating the systematic structures of faith as found in the writings of Martin Luther and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He is using these as the basis for criticising historical examples of fundamentalist understandings of faith and, more generally, fundamentalist tendencies within all forms of faith. Broadly speaking, his interests include doctrine of God, Christology, Creator/creature relations, and theological responses to current epistemological and anthropological concerns.
